The Council ceased to operate as of 1 April 2013 the day of proclamation of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act 2006 and all practitioners must be registered with the CTCMPAO in order to practice Acupuncture in Ontario.

The Ontario Council of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine was established to unite acupuncturist and practitioners of TCM.

The council objectives are:

  • To train acupuncturist and TCM practitioners thoroughly in the latest knowledge of this science through seminars and classes.

  • Seeking and establishing relationships with overseas colleges and universities teaching Chinese Medicine to keep apprised of research and updated practical techniques

  • Establishing a provincial centre for research in TCM and acupuncture. To inform and educate the public about current practices in the field of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

  • Please notice that regulation of the profession (including registration, examination, complaints and discipline and setting standards) is the sole responsibility of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario.
